CCMAR at the National Meeting of Live Science Clubs in Schools

The BridgingAll project showed in Lisbon its training offer and the objectives for partnerships between the CCMAR with the schools, the Live Science Clubs in Schools, and the teachers.

The presence at the National Meeting of the Live Science Clubs in Schools, which took place at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento in Lisbon on the 14th of October, allowed the head of the project, Rute Martins to present the training already carried out with teachers (in the Algarve and remotely), with a direct connection to marine sciences and the training that is being prepared for 2023.

The activities carried out with students - field trips to learn about biodiversity in Ria Formosa, consequences of sea pollution by plastic, the impact of climate change on health, SDGs and regional biodiversity or the use of model animals in research - were also showed to the hundreds of teachers who attended the event.

Some partnerships for the implementation of activities were established with some school groupings in the Algarve, but there were contacts and interest from schools in other regions of the country.

The Live Science in School Clubs are knowledge spaces open to the entire educational community that promote cooperation between formal and non-formal education systems. They are a joint initiative of Ciência Viva and the Directorate General for Education. Currently, the Network is composed by 896 Clubs all over the national territory, involving 4000 partner entities. Around 575,000 students and 4806 teachers from various scientific areas actively participate in this project.
