Algal Turf Scrubber: a low cost and sustainable way for cleaning wastewaters
Algal Turf Scrubbers (ATS) are ecological engineering systems that exploit the metabolic activity of algae attached to substrates to remove pollutants, presenting operational simplicity and low implementation and maintenance costs. Its adaptation to marine waters could represent an important step towards the sustainability of mariculture and the restoration of coastal ecosystems. A brief presentation of the systems with illustrative data will be presented.
The seminar will be held on March 20, at 13:30, at the University of Algarve, Gambelas Campus - Complexo Pedagógico, Anfiteatro D, and also online, via Zoom.
Participation is free but mandatory to register.
