Tell us a bit about the work you will be doing at CCMAR.

I have joined the Fish Ethology and Welfare group and will be working on our FishEthoBase, which is a database of farmed fish species. I will be collecting information and creating profiles. The objective is to score the current state of these species in aquaculture based on the fish needs. Our work will inform the farm industry on the specific welfare needs of the species that they farm.

What were you doing before you rejoined us?

I was a Research Associate and Laboratory Manager at a Comparative Cognition laboratory at the University of Cambridge. We were studying the cognitive skills of corvids and comparing them with little children. Before that, I did a PhD in fish social behaviour and neuroscience at McGill University (Canada). I studied guppies, specifically what happens inside their brains when they are social.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I have many hobbies! I like playing board games and doing outdoors activities (hiking, climbing, swimming…). I like travelling, meeting new people, and learning from (and about) other cultures. I enjoy doing handcrafts and learning new skills such as sewing and dressmaking, doing pottery, or film photography. I recently started learning to play.
