Mapping polyvalent fishing effort with AI (Artificial Intelligence)

Important questions about fisheries, such as “Where are we fishing, precisely?” or “How much are we fishing?” still need to be better understood if we want to improve ocean conservation and governance. Here we present a methodology that allows to classify vessel tracking data into the different stages of a fishing trip, including the deployment and haul of static fishing gears. The classified data allow us to quantify and map the effort, as soak time, by these types of fishing activities.

The seminar will be held on November 9, at 13:30, at the Anfiteatro A l Complexo Pedagógico.
Participation is free but mandatory to register.
