Potential consequences of future climate change on marine forests

Wednesday, November 29, 2023
at
University of Algarve, Gambelas Campus - Complexo Pedagógico, Anfiteatro D | Zoom

Climate change is driving the redistribution of marine biodiversity, altering the stability and functionality of marine ecosystems. Its impacts are particularly striking for marine forest species, the structural basis of coastal ecosystems, with cascading effects that reduce local biodiversity and disrupt ecosystem services. Over the past 4 years, we studied the global drivers and patterns of marine forest biodiversity, providing quantitative estimates of present and future gene and species diversity for hundreds of species.

The seminar will be held on November 29, at 13:30, at the University of Algarve, Gambelas Campus - Complexo Pedagógico, Anfiteatro D, and also online, via Zoom.

Participation is free but mandatory to register.
