Ester Serrão, CCMAR researcher and professor at UAlg, is one of the co-authors of the book “A evolução da ciência em Portugal", 

recently published by the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation. The work aims to analyze the national research during the last three decades, concerning the marine sciences.

To achieve this goal, authors explain that new automation methodologies have been developed for classifying sea-related information and a database of all the extracted information. These allowed to describe a state of the art on the marine sciences in Portugal over the last few years and will facilitate the continuation of this analysis through objective comparisons in the future.
