Tell us a bit about the work you’ll be doing at CCMAR.
My research within the project INDRA "Monção Indiana e vegetação: lições de dois ciclos glaciar-interglaciares contrastantes do Pleistoceno Médio; “EXPL/CTA-CLI/0612/2021”, will focus on understanding the change in past Indian monsoon patterns by studying the change in vegetation between two contrasting glacial-interglacial cycles using pollen grains as a proxy marker. The study will primarily explore the Middle Pleistocene period as an analogue for present climate warming and will integrate past vegetation dynamics and climate modelling to generate a model-data comparison for better climate reconstruction.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I like exploring and getting lost in not-so-popular cities and places. Other than this, learning about the world of finance and global macroeconomics fascinate me. Recently, I have also caught a new hobby of learning new languages.

What were you doing before you joined us?
Before joining CCMAR, I was doing my Masters in the Erasmus Mundus programme of Water and Coastal Management. In my last semester, I did my thesis at the University of Algarve in Faro which prompted me to apply for this research fellowship position I am currently in. After exploring a few focus areas, I decided to focus my future research ambitions on paleoclimatology and palynology.
