Paleoclimatic indicators highlighted on the National Sea Day

It was on National Sea Day, 16 of November, that our researchers and collaborators of IPMA, Dulce Oliveira, Teresa Rodrigues, and Fátima Abrantes participated in a day dedicated to the protection and defense of the oceans that took place at the National Museum of Natural History and Science of the University of Lisbon.

The exhibition focused on how the climatic conditions of our planet have been changing throughout history in a more or less drastic way. A special emphasis was given to the palaeoclimatic indicators preserved in marine sediments. This material deposited at the bottom of the oceans is a precious source of information on the climatic and oceanographic conditions existing at the time of its deposition.

This was an activity part of the project "Warm Worlds" Features and lessons from Past Interglacials "warm periods" during the last 1.5".
