Sofia Engrola talks about food sustainability in Antena 1's programme
Our researcher Sofia Engrola was one of the interviewees of the new Antena 1 programme, "The Challenges of Sustainable Food", which highlights research projects related to food sustainability. In the podcast broadcasted on 13 February, the researcher talked about the work developed by her group in the recovery of mussels wasted by the industry.
In her research, carried out in partnership with the Institute of Marine Research (IIM-CSIC) in Vigo, mussels were processed into mussel meal and incorporated into diets for feeding seabream, thus being reintroduced into the food production cycle.
"The Challenges of Sustainable Food" is produced by journalist Eduarda Maio and has the collaboration of the University of Lisbon, the New University of Lisbon and the University of Algarve. The podcast will present ten research projects on food sustainability that seek solutions to improve food and reduce waste from different industries. The episodes are broadcasted daily from Monday to Friday at 2.40 pm on Antena 1 and as a podcast on RTP Play.
