The Center of Marine Sciences (CCMAR) organized the 4th edition of the photo contest 'Aos Olhos do CCMAR', with the objective to promote and disseminate stories, environments and scientific phenomena of CCMAR researchers, using photography as a means of expression, combining aesthetics with scientific rigor. The winners were announced on the day of CCMAR's 28th anniversary, the 6th of March, 2019.

With the participation of 16 researchers and 50 photographs, 5 prizes were distributed:

1st prize of best photography: João Neiva: Gone with the wind I

2nd prize for best photography: Luca Antoni: Sunbathing in the yard

3rd prize for best photography: Vânia Baptista: Life without trash

Best photograph presented by doctoral student: Rubaiyat E. Sania: Marine ecosystem

Best photography by the 'People's choice': Luca Antoni: A bright star in a struggling sea

We thank all participants and winners of the competition, as well as all the entities that support this initiative: the FCT (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia), Hotel Real, Tertúlia Algarvia, Mar Shopping and Sul Informação.

All the photographs of the participants will be exhibited from April 29 to May 10 at the Mar Shopping in Loulé.
