New on Board: Adriana Ressurreição
Adriana joined us recently and is going to work with the Coastal Fisheries Research Group (cfrg).
Welcome Adriana!
Tell us a bit about the work you’ll be doing at CCMAR.
I’m a post-doc fellow who will be collaborating with Fisheries, Biodiversity and Conservation Group. Following the work developed in the Azores, my research will be focus on marine ecotourism in Algarve. Particularly, I’m interested to understand the spatial distribution of non-extractive recreational uses, identify hot-spots of recreation and quantify its socioeconomic impact.
What were you doing before you joined us?
In the last 10 years I have been working in DOP (Azores). The work developed was mainly focused on the assessment of people’s values and views regarding the marine environment and its variation among stakeholder groups and across geographical and temporal scales. I’ve also coordinated a project aiming to characterize and estimate the economic importance of marine-based tourism in the Azores.
What interests and hobbies do you enjoy when you are not doing science?
Hobbies are somehow in standby J at this moment of my life as I have been a mom a few months ago .Yet, whenever I have a break I like go to beach and spend time with my friends. I love looking for antiques and vintage furniture, to read and explore alternative movies and music. Last but not least, I love to go abroad and to know different people, food and cultures.
