Tell us a bit about the work you are/will be doing at CCMAR.

As part of the Oceanography and Climate Change (OC2) group, I will be performing laboratory treatment of sediment samples for sedimentological and elemental analysis at the IPMA-Algés Campus under the EMSO-PT project.

What were you doing before you joined us?

I have a background both in Archaeology and Geology and I'm currently doing my MA in Archaeology at the University of Lisbon. I'm an aspiring geoarchaeologist with a special interest in reconstructing the dynamics of past human environments from a geological perspective. Prior to my MA, I joined a multidisciplinary project on the study of the Upper Paleolithic rock-shelter of Lagar Velho (Lapedo Valley, central PT) where I began working on the sedimentological analysis of natural and anthropogenic sediments. That work has now become part of my thesis project, which aims to better understand the processes involved in the formation of the site before, during and after its prehistoric occupation.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

When I'm not reading a book or listening to music, I can probably be found walking or riding a bike across the city, spending time with friends or cooking some nice vegetables. I also enjoy camping, riding trains (even if only for a ten-minute ride), going to the movies and searching for fossils wherever I am (without collecting them!).
