1. Tell us a bit about the work you are/will be doing at CCMAR.

The effect of ocean warming on well-being of fish is a major concern of future climate changes. Protein homeostasis imbalance, that occurs under stress conditions, is crucial for cell survival. Fish are ectotherm organisms and temperature doubtless is one of the most important stress factors for survival. Our study will focus on how stress factors, namely temperature, may impact on protein homeostasis/aggregation in fish.

2. What were you doing before you joined us?

My general interest on structure-function of proteins was focused in one of the most important issues in Biology: How proteins fold and what are the main determinants of their stability. Lately, we have been studying the mechanism of protein homeostasis at the cellular level which when fail may lead to protein misfolding and aggregation compromising cell viability.

3.  What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Reading, cycling, cinema and live concerts.
