The main research area is bioinformatics applied to animal genomics. Recent past research involved the application of genomics to map key regions of the European sea bass genome that regulate growth related traits, and to understand their function and evolution. It entailed to detect and characterise quantitative trait loci and their underlying causal genes that contribute to the variation in fish growth performance. Currently using the quantitative genetics and genomics to understand the responses to global change and genome evolution of Antarctic notothenioid fish. The approach involves high-throughput sequencing techniques such RNASeq to gain insight to transcriptomic responses to thermal and osmoregulatory challenges of Notothenia rossi. Participated in several European research projects at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (Crete, Greece) and at CCMAR. Participated in nine research projects funded.
Bem-vinda!
