Marta Albo-Puigserver graduated in Environmental Science and has a MSc in Marine Science from the University of Barcelona. In 2012 she joined the Institute of Marine Science of Barcelona, Spain (ICM-CSIC) to conduct her PhD degree (2013-2016) in Marine Sciences focused on the study of the ecological and functional role of small pelagic fish in the Mediterranean Sea. From 2017 to 2020 she worked in several international and national Spanish projects as research assistant and coordinator at the ICM-CSIC. During her career, she visited international laboratories, attended 12 international conferences and participated in 7 oceanographic and fishing campaigns. M. Albo-Puigserver co-supervised 3 MSc and BSc thesis and 3 undergraduate students. She actively participated in working groups and has been involved in the co-management plans of the red shrimp and small pelagic fishery in the coast of Catalonia, Spain. Her research has contributed to the field of trophic ecology and ecosystem functioning, with special focus on understanding the food-web structure and the changes in life-history traits of commercial marine species and the impacts of climate change on these species.
Currently, she started a postdoctoral contract in the University of Algarve and joined the Ecology and restoration of riverine, estuarine and coastal habitats group (ECOREACH) at CCMAR within the project CLIMA-PESCA, led by Dr. Francisco Leitão, which aims to assess the vulnerability of the fisheries sector to climate change.
