João Cardeira has basic scientific background within the Biological Sciences, with a degree in Marine Biology.
During his MSc thesis, he acquired skills in molecular biology, gene expression, teleost skeletal biology and zebrafish development and regeneration.
He is author in 8 peer-reviewed articles published (or accepted for publication) in international journals, 6 of which as first author (or co-author). He has also authored 14 poster presentations in international/national meetings, 7 of which as first presenting author, and 10 communications in international and national meetings, 4 of which as first presenting author.
His education experience includes the co-supervision of three undergraduate students, two graduate students (short-term) and co-host of visiting scientist. He was also lecturer in seminars and practical classes for undergraduate and graduate degrees in Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Biomedical Sciences. More recently, he participated in teaching animal histology and was lecturer in advanced training courses on zebrafish as a model for human diseases.
First prize in the contest of ideas CITRANSEBT (TRANS EBT project and the FEDER-POCTEP program), with a project on the field of histology.
Current research interests focus on skeletal biology, tissue regeneration, mechanobiology and morphogenesis.
