Lívia is oceanographer, D.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, hired as P.hD. Researcher at the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), based in Algés - Lisbon, and associated to the Oceanography and Climate Change Research Group (OC2) from CCMAR. She has published 13 articles in Indexed International Journals, 3 book chapters for science promotion, many papers in meetings and conferences, and technical reports in the area of marine sciences. She has some teaching and supervising experience, as well as in scientific evaluation boards of graduation, master, and doctorate projects. She has been working in national and international universities, and research institutes, but also in environmental consulting companies. Her main research areas are marine organic biogeochemistry, paleoproductivity, paleoceanography, and marine environmental monitoring.
Within the OC2 group, at IPMA´s Biogeochemistry Laboratory, she is implementing two new research lines, focusing on paleoproductivity investigation:
1. Marine Paleoproductivity through lipid biomarkers and the impacts of climate changes, which aims to study past lipid signatures of primary productivity and how PP responded in upwelling systems of the Iberian Margin to the most recent cold periods, such as the Little Ice Age, and the warmer condition of the Medieval Climate Anomaly; and
2. The assessment of land-fire influence on the primary productivity of the Iberian Margin over the last millennium (Paleofire study), through the development and calibration of molecular biomarkers (e.g.: levoglucosan and PAHs) with charcoal data.
New students and partnerships are welcome!
